You can delete your StatusMela account at any time, right from the app. No need to write to anyone.

Delete your account in the app#

  1. Open StatusMela and tap your profile at the bottom right.
  2. Tap the settings (⚙) icon at the top.
  3. Scroll down to Account and tap Delete account.
  4. Read the note and tap Delete my account to confirm.

You'll be signed out on all your devices straight away.

What happens next#

  • Straight away: your profile, posts and comments are hidden from everyone, and you are signed out everywhere.
  • For 30 days: you can change your mind — just sign in again with the same Google account and everything comes back as it was.
  • After 30 days: your account is permanently deleted, along with your profile, photos, videos, posts, comments, likes, follows, saved posts and notification settings. This can't be undone.
  • Backups are cleared within a further 90 days.

What we may keep#

  • Security and access logs, for 180 days, as Indian law requires.
  • Information we need for an ongoing investigation, a legal claim or a complaint, until it is closed.
  • Copies of your public posts that other people already shared outside StatusMela (for example to WhatsApp) — we can't delete those.

Can't open the app?#

Email [email protected] from the email address of the Google account you use on StatusMela, with the subject "Delete my account" and your StatusMela username. We'll confirm it's you and delete the account within 30 days.

Delete only some data#

You don't have to delete your whole account. You can delete any post or comment by tapping ⋯ → Delete, remove your profile photo in Settings → Edit profile, and turn off notifications in Settings → Notifications.
