StatusMelaDraft — have a lawyer review these rules before running contests with cash or voucher prizes.
These official rules apply to every contest on StatusMela, run by StatusMela ("StatusMela", "we", "us"). Each contest's page in the app and on https://statusmela.in also shows its own dates, entry rules and prizes; if they differ, the contest page wins for that contest.
Google is not a sponsor of, nor involved in, this contest. Apple, WhatsApp and other platforms are not involved either.
Who can take part#
- You must be 18 or older. You can take part from any country.
- You need a StatusMela account in good standing. Accounts must be at least 7 days old when the contest ends to win; newer accounts may be skipped.
- StatusMela staff, the sponsor's staff, and their immediate families can't win.
- Where a contest or prize is not allowed by law (for example in some states for some kinds of prizes), it is void there.
How to enter#
- Post your entry in the app with the contest selected (or its hashtag) while the contest is live, within the number of entries the contest allows.
- Your entry must be your own work, follow our Community Guidelines and not copy anyone else's photo, video or design.
- Entering is free. You never need to pay, buy anything or share an OTP to enter or to claim a prize.
How winners are picked#
Contests are contests of skill, not lotteries. The StatusMela team (and the sponsor, where named) picks the winners for creativity, quality and how well the entry fits the theme. Likes, comments and shares help us see what people enjoy, but only engagement from genuine accounts counts — likes from new or fake accounts, bought likes and sudden bursts are ignored and may disqualify an entry. We may remove entries that break these rules at any time.
Our decision on winners is final.
Prizes#
- One prize per person per contest, even if you post several entries.
- Prizes are as shown on the contest page (for example an Amazon gift voucher, a UPI transfer, a product sent by the sponsor, or an in-app badge and certificate). Prizes can't be swapped, and there is no cash alternative for vouchers or gifts.
- Where a sponsor provides a prize, the sponsor sends it directly. We share the details you give in the claim form with that sponsor only if you agree to it in the form.
- Cash and voucher prizes may be limited to one per person per month across contests.
Claiming a prize#
- Winners get a notification in the app and must fill in the claim form within the claim period shown (normally 14 days). If you don't, the prize expires and may go to the next entry.
- Give your real name and contact details.
- Winners outside India: Indian vouchers and UPI work only in India, so we will contact you to agree on a prize of the same value that you can use.
- Prize value: prizes from StatusMela are worth up to ₹10,000 per winner. Where a sponsor sends a bigger prize, the sponsor takes care of any tax on it.
- If a winner breaks these rules, gives false details or can't be reached, we may take the prize back and give it to the next entry.
Your entry and your data#
You keep the rights to your entry. By entering, you let us and the sponsor show your entry, name and photo as a contestant or winner, in the app, on our website and on social media, for the purpose of the contest. We use the details in the claim form only to deliver your prize, meet tax law and keep records, as explained in our Privacy Policy. Claim details are stored encrypted and deleted when no longer needed.
Other things#
- We may change, pause or cancel a contest if something outside our control affects it (for example fraud or a technical problem), and will say so on the contest page.
- StatusMela isn't responsible for prizes that are lost or delayed in the post once sent, or for the sponsor's products themselves.
- These rules are governed by the laws of India.
